November 30, 2009 Report: Two-thirds of tested chickens tainted Consumer Reports latest tests of 382 whole chickens bought from more than 100 stores in 22 states, found that two-thirds harbor disease-causing bacteria—salmonella, campylobacter or both. Perfect Flame has received about 40 reports of fires from the burners deteriorating and about 23 reports of the lids catching fire. [READ THE FULL STORY] Safety November 9, 2009 Fingertip amputations prompt recall of 1 million Maclaren strollers After getting reports of 12 fingertip amputations, Maclaren USA is recalling one million strollers, which includes every umbrella stroller of that brand sold in the U.S. for the past 10 years. The amputations occurred when the children got their fingers caught in the stroller's hinge mechanism.
