Need to move people? Nothing beats a minivan, says Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh, who takes a 2010 Toyota Sienna CE on a road trip and declares it a viable, fuel-efficient competitor in a small but fiercely-fought segment. 
The Genesis Coupe GT's 306-horsepower V6 "loves to rev and sounds great doing it," says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase - zero-to-100 km/h takes just 6.6 seconds. But while it offers "great handling and roadholding", the ride is "stiff", he says. 
The North American version of the Mazda2 was revealed at the recent Los Angeles auto show, but curiously, journalists weren't allowed to look inside or under the hood. Contributor Gerry Frechette was there to glean what facts he could. 
Nobody really expected a 560-horsepower aluminum and carbon-fibre reinforced V10 supercar from Lexus, says Brian Early. "Angular and angry-looking, the LFA easily represents as big a leap for Lexus as Acura's 1990 NSX did for that automaker," he reports. 
James was impressed by the Matrix's all-weather traction, but less so with its fuel consumption. He's also "not convinced" that the Matrix AWD is a good value compared to the larger RAV4. 
Well equipped for $20,499, the Hyundai Elantra Touring GLS offers ample legroom and headroom and a roomy cargo area with underfloor space to hide the privacy cover when not in use, says interior reviewer, Michael Clark. 
Basically a re-badged Opel, the Saturn Astra was available for only two years before GM killed the Saturn brand. "There aren't too many serious issues to look out for," says Contributing Editor, Chris Chase, "but it's early yet..." 
There aren't many people who would volunteer to be submerged in a sinking vehicle, but CanadianDriver contributor Michael Clark volunteered to do just that as part of a safety demonstration about how to escape from a sinking car. 
The latest and probably the best example of the "automatic manual transmission", the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission offers "mechanical efficiency similar to a manual transmission with the convenience of an automatic transmission," says Technical Editor, Jim Kerr. 
After its invention just before the Second World War, fiberglass was used in the manufacture of some notable automobiles, including the Kaiser Darrin, Volvo P1900, Lotus Elite, Studebaker Avanti, and of course, the Chevrolet Corvette, says auto historian, Bill Vance.
