Toyota will extend warranties and install brake override systems on certain vehicles in response to unintended acceleration lawsuits. The Japanese automaker may also cover economic losses of owners who sold their vehicles at a discount.

Toyota is setting aside $1.1 billion to settle several lawsuits and other claims of unintended acceleration. Toyota battled that crisis in 2009 and 2010. Toyota has also agreed to install new brake override systems in some vehicles, and it will reimburse owners who suffered economic losses because of the problems.
