New on CanadianDriver

First Drive: 2011 VW Jetta 2.0 and TDI by Paul Williams
In the price-sensitive Canadian market, the new entry-level VW Jetta with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine and the fuel-efficient Jetta TDI diesel model are expected to be very popular. We recently had a chance to drive both in and around Toronto.
First Drive: 2011 Hyundai Sonata 2.0T by Greg Wilson
Hyundai has replaced the mid-sized Sonata sedan's optional V6 with a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine with class-leading horsepower and fuel economy, reports Editor, Greg Wilson. "But will V6 owners trade in their V6's for a turbo-four," he asks?
First Drive: 2011 Lexus IS 350 AWD by Grant Yoxon
Previously available with rear-wheel drive only, the Lexus IS 350 is now offered with optional all-wheel drive, reports Grant Yoxon. This full-time system splits torque 30/70 front to rear offering drivers "foul weather confidence," he says.
Test Drive: 2010 Honda Accord EX-L V6 Coupe by Peter Bleakney
The front-wheel drive Accord Coupe has the best V6 engine in its class, says Peter Bleakney. Honda's 3.5-litre V6 is "everything a great naturally aspirated engine should be, and the slick shifting six-speed makes the most of it," he reports.
Day-by-Day Review: 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster by James Bergeron
"The 370Z really is a great cruiser and a great handler in one package, and it has power to compliment it all," says James. And if the car is a little noisy inside with the fabric top up, that concern disappears with the roof down. Even the stereo sounds good with the car in topless mode.
Preview: Toyota Prius PHV by James Bergeron
The Toyota Prius PHV (plug-in hybrid), scheduled to go on sale in the 2012 model year, provides "the benefit, both in fuel costs to the consumer as well as environmental, of an electric vehicle, without the range compromise," says James Bergeron.
Used Vehicle Review: Acura EL, 2001-2005 by Chris Chase
Because it's based on the Honda Civic sedan, the Canada-only Acura 1.7EL is "top-of-the-heap, reliability-wise, among small luxury sedans," reports Chris Chase. But he recommends avoiding 2001-2002 models because of potential automatic transmission problems.
Product Review: SYNC technology in the 2011 Ford Fiesta by Frank Rizzuti
Reviewer Frank Rizzuti borrowed a 2011 Ford Fiesta to test out the Ford's factory-installed SYNC connectivity system. Though he calls it "one of the most advanced in-car entertainment solutions," he noted some features didn't work with his smart phone.
Auto Tech: Chevy's Volt by Jim Kerr
Technical Editor, Jim Kerr, explains the technology behind the Chevrolet Volt extended range electric car and how it differs from other electric cars.
Motoring Memories: Ford Maverick, 1970-1977 by Bill Vance
Replacing the Ford Falcon, the Maverick was designed to counter imports from VW, Toyota and Datsun. "Although it didn't really repel the imports, it was... a solid, if unspectacular, performer in its market niche," says Bill Vance.
Steering You Right: Really nice, fast cars by Jordan W. Charness
An opportunity to ride in two very nice, very fast cars gave lawyer Jordan Charness the chance to appreciate just how fast a driver could lose their driver's licence if they gave in to temptation.
