Video report: Be aware of stroller hinge hazards
In the past two years, the Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced five recalls of well over 2.5 million strollers that can severely injure children's fingers. The CPSC reported at least 29 injuries, including fingertip amputations and lacerations that occurred when a child got his or her finger caught in one of the stroller hinge mechanisms.

Feds: Homes with tainted drywall should be gutted
Homes with tainted Chinese drywall should be stripped down to the studs, according to a recommendation from two federal agencies. The corroded electrical wiring, outlets, circuit breakers, fire alarm systems, carbon monoxide alarms, fire sprinklers, gas pipes and other systems should also be removed.

Long Island toddler dies after strangling on window blind chain
A two-year-old Long Island boy died after getting his neck caught in the chain of vertical blinds in the family home. According to local news reports, the boy was playing with another child when he became tangled in the chain. His father and medical professionals were unable to revive him.

One million Infantino slings recalled after three infant deaths
It's not that we like recalls, but we'd always rather see a product pulled from store shelves and banished from home use than to hear that it hurt—or killed—a baby. So it is with great relief that we applaud this recall by the Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada of more than one million Infantino baby slings.

Injuries prompt Graco to recall 1.2 million high chairs
Graco is recalling 1.2 million of its Harmony high chairs after 24 children were injured in tip-over accidents caused by a defect in the chairs. One of the children suffered a hairline fracture to the arm while others sustained bumps, bruises and scratches to the head and body. Astoundingly, there were 464 reports of the high chairs coming apart before the recall.

Five people have been partially blinded by a nail gun that fires unexpectedly and a home in Ohio was badly damaged in a fire caused by a faulty fireplace remote control in incidents related to recent recalls.
