With a shift to electric cars becoming desirable for environmental and political reasons, and major automakers being slow to heed the call, a number of upstart companies are trying to fill the gap. We combed through these efforts, looking for cars with the kind of specs that could make them everyday drivers, notably the capability to hit freeway speeds.
