	This week in Car Tech Wayne Cunningham CNET.com High-tech in Detroit We've come a long way from pushrods and carburetors at the 2010 Detroit auto show. This year proved a real tech showcase, highlighted by a new interface from Ford and an abundance of electric cars. The Detroit show is still the barometer of the American automotive industry, even for foreign brands (many of which are now built here), so this barrage of electric cars demonstrates that the industry sees the writing on the wall, and realizes that it is innovate or die. As for cabin tech, Ford picked up a good lead with Sync, and now is determined to hold onto it, showing off a bright, new interface for car and infotainment functions. Taking it a step further, Ford showed off a means for using smartphone applications through the car interface.
