| U.S. F1 confirms former Renault test driver José María López for 2010

The U.S. F1 team has signed former Renault test driver José María López as one of its drivers for this season.
It's been expected López, a 26-year-old Argentine, would be named to a U.S. F1 slot since November. He's dominated in his home country for the last several years, scoring three championships, 38 wins and 36 pole positions. Before that, he enjoyed a successful career in Europe, winning the 2002 Italian Formula Renault championship. He also won races at the European Formula Renault V6 and GP2 levels, and ran in the American Le Mans Series in 2007.
López was passed over for a seat on the Renault F1 squad, leading him to return home to Argentina in 2007. Nicknamed “Pechito,” he's become a national hero in the racing-crazed country, and his signing was... |
