Suzuki is determined to make a bigger impact on the U.S. market and is planning a raft of new models it hopes will be able to lure buyers away from current favorites. To do so the automaker is building a range of models decisively sportier  than many of its rivals and packed with plenty of standard features. We've already seen the first of these...

Action Express pulls off stunning win at Rolex 24
By Steven Cole Smith | 01/31/10, 5:14 pm et
The No. 9 car was white with a few stripes, but it should have been black--that's how dark the horse was that won the 2010 Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona.

The Action Express Racing Riley-Porsche--“Action Express Racing” was stenciled, almost apologetically, on the nose of the car, but nowhere else--dominated the race, leading 316 of 755 laps. Second was one of the two Chip Ganassi Racing cars; Ganassi's other car lost an engine and finished 15th of the 15 Daytona Prototypes entered in the Grand-Am season-opener. One of Level 5 Racing's Riley-BMW's finished third overall.

In the GT class, it seemed no one wanted to win, as leaders and favorites fell by the wayside until a SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 finally took the checkered flag, for the second time in three years....

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 02:00 PM PST

High Gear Media accepted travel expenses to attend the first drive of the 2010 Hyundai Tucson. It's been a banner year for Hyundai. The Korean automaker has introduced its new Genesis sedan in the Genesis Coupe and has shown off a new Sonata sedan that's in the works for the 2011 model year. On top of all those new products, it also has a...

2011 Toyota Sienna Bottom Line

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 01:00 PM PST

High Gear Media accepted travel expenses to be among the first to drive and report on the 2011 Toyota Sienna. The 2011 Toyota Sienna may be the Japanese automaker's third-generation minivan, but Toyota emphasizes that the new Sienna is becoming more carlike than ever. The Sienna gets smart updates to its drivetrains and to its interior package for...

2011 Ford Mustang Bottom Line

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 01:00 PM PST

Two all-new engines—a V-6 and a V-8—promise to make the Mustang lineup a lot more exciting for 2011. Although the 2011 Ford Mustang isn't fully redesigned, it's extensively refreshed, with a new line of powertrains, new power steering, and suspension changes that altogether guarantee that it's going to be faster, more fuel-efficient and, likely...

2010 Mercury Mountaineer Bottom Line

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 12:52 PM PST

The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer, to put it bluntly, is a 2010 Ford Explorer, rebadged and presented with slightly different trim and details. The Explorer isn't a bad place to start, but it's worth noting that this is a more traditional, truck-based SUV design, outclassed by many of the more modern and carlike passenger-oriented models. However, with...

2010 Kia Sportage Bottom Line

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 12:45 PM PST

Kia's compact Sportage SUV was first introduced back in 2005 and underwent a mild facelift just last year to improve its fuel economy, styling, and drivability. With that in mind, there are no major changes to the 2010 lineup. For the latest model year, the Sportage comes in base LX or EX trim, along with optional all-wheel drive. The changes...

2010 Tesla Roadster Bottom Line

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 11:44 AM PST

The 2010 Tesla Roadster delivers on its promise: It's the first green alternative to a century of gasoline sportscars. Its classic, primitive two-seat soft-top shape offers kick-ass electric performance: minimal eco impact for maximum driving pleasure. Just getting the car into production guarantees the Tesla Roadster its place in history. The...

2010 BMW 1-Series Bottom Line

Posted: 29 Jan 2010 06:54 PM PST

The 2010 BMW 1-Series in some ways represents BMW at its best: offering simple driving enjoyment in a compact car that looks back to the much-loved BMW 2002 from the 1970s. Over the years, BMW's 3-Series line has evolved and increased in size and weight to the point that BMW filled the gap at the bottom of the range with the 1-Series coupe and...

2010 Mercury Mountaineer

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 12:55 PM PST

All of Mercury's current products are lightly dressed-up Ford models, with different front and rear details, slightly different sheetmetal in some cases, and a lighter, more lavish interior look. The 2010 Mercury Mountaineer is no exception; Mercury's waterfall grille and softer front end help make the Mountaineer appear just a little more...

2010 Kia Sportage

Posted: 30 Jan 2010 12:46 PM PST

The changes incorporated last year included body color-matching front and rear bumpers, a new grille design, new headlights and fog lights, and new alloy wheels. Overall, though, the 2010 Kia Sportage keeps the same basic silhouette it's had for many years. According to Kelley Blue Book, the Sportage's "distinctive design is modern, clean and...

2010 BMW 1-Series

Posted: 29 Jan 2010 07:04 PM PST

While the merits of BMW's new design direction have been hotly debated, experts at TheCarConnection.com find almost universal agreement that the 2010 BMW 1-Series definitely looks like a BMW—it's just not as elegantly proportioned as others in the family. Introduced two years ago in the U.S. market, the current 2010 BMW 1-Series is a carryover in...
