The Caterham Supersport R will retail as a kit for $40,000 and pre-built for $44,500. For that money, you'll get a car that can go head-to-head with some of the world's greatest supercars.

Caterham Cars is adding the Supersport R to its lineup of superlight track weapons. The R model upgrades the basic Supersport trim with more power, comfort upgrades and a 1,200-pound curb weight.

The Supersport uses a two-liter Ford Duratec for power, making 180 hp and 143 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers are low, but at a power-to-weight level, this car matches some of the best from...
