Garmin, TomTom concentrate on connected GPS

GPS makers Garmin and TomTom both released photos and specifications about their latest flagship models this week, and both rely heavily on data connections for services such as traffic and weather. The Garmin NuLink 1695 uses a 5-inch screen and gives buyers one year of its NuLink data service. The NuLink store lets users purchase additional apps. Likewise, TomTom's GO Live 1000 uses its data connection to bring in traffic, weather, traffic camera locations, flight information, and Google Local Search.
