New on CanadianDriver

First Drive: 2011 Hyundai Equus by Greg Wilson
Though it's priced lower than other full-size luxury sedans, Hyundai Canada doesn't expect the new Equus to outsell established German and Japanese rivals - but they are hoping it will elevate Hyundai's image as a world-class automaker.
First Drive: 2011 Honda Odyssey by Grant Yoxon
In addition to a "more modern look", the fourth generation Honda Odyssey minivan features better fuel economy, sportier handling, easier access to the third row seat, and new features like a multi-view rear back-up camera, reports Grant Yoxon.
First Drive: 2011 Lincoln MKZ Hybrid by Chris Chase
The new Lincoln MKZ Hybrid is quieter than the Ford Fusion Hybrid on which it's based, says Chris Chase, and more importantly, more comfortable and refined than the Lexus HS 250h, which Lincoln identifies as the MKZ's closest competitor.
Test Drive: 2011 Ford Fiesta SES hatchback by Chris Chase
Five-speed manual transmission: "Balanced and eager handling" and a suspension that "rarely felt unsettled," are the highlights of the new Fiesta, says Chris Chase. The manual transmission is "pleasant to use" though the third-to-fourth shift "can be tricky." Criticisms include a "quirky interior design."
Feature: Price comparison – 2011 Ford Fiesta vs 2011 Mazda2 by Greg Wilson
After comparing pricing for the similar-looking Ford Fiesta and Mazda2, editor Greg Wilson concludes that one of these cars "seems to be a better deal." And the winner is...
Test Drive: 2010 Land Rover LR2 by Jil McIntosh
It may be the smallest Land Rover, but the LR2 is worthy of the name, says Assistant Editor Jil McIntosh; despite its price and reputation for reliability, she's come to appreciate its combination of off-road ability and "seriously luxurious" touches.
Used Vehicle Review: Ford Explorer, 2006-2010 by Chris Chase
The Explorer is a "nicely-designed truck, and appears to be reasonably dependable, at least with the V8 drivetrain," says Chris Chase. "The best part is its low resale values, which translate into affordability for used buyers," he says.
Feature: The origin of tire sipes by Paul Williams
Though inventor John Sipe is generally credited with patenting tire sipes - those tiny incisions in tire treads that help them grip the road – it turns out that the word originated before John Sipe came along, says Paul Williams.
Motoring Memories: Chevrolet El Camino, 1959-1988 by Bill Vance
Chevrolet's response to Ford's 1957 Ranchero sedan-pickup was the 1959 El Camino based on the full-size Chevrolet sedan. In 1964, it switched to the mid-sized Chevelle chassis, and in 1978 to the smaller Malibu chassis. Its 30-year run ended in 1988.
Auto Tech: Clutches and new transmissions by Jim Kerr
In recent years, we have seen a new style of automatic transmission, says Technical Editor, Jim Kerr. These transmissions have two inputs shafts, one inside the other, and two clutches to engage the transmission. "Shifts are extremely fast," he says.
Steering You Right: Battery warranties by Jordan W. Charness
"Usually when we buy something that comes with a warranty it means that the store or manufacturer will either fix or replace the item when it breaks. Not so with most battery warranties," says lawyer Jordan Charness.
