Injuries related to nursery products on the rise
Emergency rooms saw an estimated 77,300 young children in 2009 because of injuries involving nursery products. That figure is up by more than 10,000 from 2008, according to data from the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

CR's testing prompts recall of Evenflo Maestro car seats
The recall of Evenflo Maestro Combination Booster Seats was issued after Consumer Reports' tests showed that the seat can crack and the harness can loosen in simulated 30-mph frontal crashes, which could leave a child inadequately restrained.

Seeing the light, CFL makers agree to lower mercury content
A dozen manufacturers of compact fluorescent lightbulbs recently agreed to lower the maximum mercury allowed, according to the National Electrical Manufacturers Association, a trade group.

Britax Infant Car Seats Recalled Due to Laceration and Choking Hazards
Britax Child Safety Inc., of Charlotte, N.C., recalled about 23,000 Chaperone infant car seats because the harness chest clip can break and pose a laceration hazard. What's more, due to its small size, the harness chest clip also poses a choking hazard.

Pfizer expands Lipitor recall by 38,000 bottles
Pfizer has announced that it plans to recall two more lots, or approximately 38,000 bottles, of Lipitor. According to the company, the recall is based on "two customer reports of an uncharacteristic odor related to the bottles in which these lots of Lipitor were packaged."

Nissan recalls 2.14 million SUVs and trucks
Nissan has announced its third largest recall in company history, affecting 2.14 million light trucks and SUVs worldwide, according to Automotive News. The recall involves a potentially faulty ignition relay that could lead to engine problems on Nissan Pathfinder, Armada and Xterra SUVs, Titan and Frontier pickup trucks, and Infiniti QX56 SUVs.
