Grill safety: Don't let your summer go up in smoke
Each year fire departments are called to 7,900 fires started by grills, hibachis or barbecues resulting in more than $80 million in property damage, according to the National Fire Protection Agency. Additionally, 18,600 people go to the ER for grilling-related injuries and burns, some fatal.

Something to frown about: 'Happy' cadmium bracelets
Rings and bracelets given as trinkets to kids by doctors and dentists were recalled today because they contain high levels of cadmium. The 66,200 "happy" bracelets and 2,200 rings were distributed by SmileMakers and handed out in medical offices over the past five years.

Smelly packaging leads Kellogg's to recall four cereals
Kellogg's has recalled 28 million boxes of cereal after consumers were sickened by an off-flavor and smell coming from the package liners. The recalled cereals are some of kids' favorites: Apple Jacks, Honey Smacks, Froot Loops and Corn Pops.

Seven firms recall 2 million drop-side cribs
Seven manufacturers today recalled more than 2 million drop-side cribs and are offering parents repair kits that would immobilize the sides. The deaths of children in drop-side cribs have led to the recalls of millions of cribs in recent years.
