Hybrids dominate Geneva

After seeing a string of unveilings at the Geneva auto show, we began to realize that hybrids were the big story here. Toyota, which has a big lead in hybrid development, announced the Auris HSD Hybrid and the Lexus CT 200h, both hatchbacks. The Lexus will also be sold in the U.S. Audi brought out an A8 Hybrid, and BMW extended its ActiveHybrid technology to the 5-Series, although both cars were listed as concepts. Volkswagen has a hybrid Touareg ready to go, and Chevrolet is counting down the months until the Volt goes on sale, along with its Opel counterpart, the Ampera.
